Mother Root is a self-initiated creative project exploring how analogue photography and physical making can be used to create moving brand imagery.

The process deliberately mirrors the physicality of the product. Images were photographed on film, printed by hand in the darkroom and reworked into moving sequences.

I photographed the product, ingredients and flavour notes on film, then printed the images by hand in the darkroom, using them as raw material for a series of handcrafted still and moving compositions.
Rather than creating motion digitally from the outset, I wanted the photographs themselves to become objects — something that could be repeated, layered, cut, moved and photographed again.
Inspired by the ritual of making the drink — shaking, pouring, stirring and layering — I wanted the process of creating the imagery to feel equally tactile and handmade.
As a Creative Manager for Levi's and Selfridges, I developed concepts and created visual worlds for brands — from window schemes and installations to wider in-store campaigns.

That same creative thinking now sits at the heart of my photographic practice.

I develop original concepts for brands and bring them to life through photography, analogue print, physical making and motion.

For Mother Root, the concept grew from the identity and ritual of the brand, translated through analogue photography, physical making and motion.
